Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"At present there remains no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have requested to the community for details.
An important official stated the attack left him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
